Teton advice

I'm thinking of going to the tetons in early august, and I wanted to poll MP for some advice.

1. Any ideas of where to camp or cheap lodging? American Alpine Climbers ranch is full so that's out. Where would you stay if you were planning on climbing the grand?

2. Suggestions on where to eat?

3. Any other climbs to recommend? I climb mostly moderates (esp in the alpine).

We stayed at some free (and legitimate) camping out Antelope Flats road somewhere. No idea how busy it is in the summer, but it was super nice and convenient (and free!).

Drive into park, get a permit, hike into the hill, camp at the base of the route.

Too general of a question. The North Face of the Grand is a moderate alpine climb.

If I were you, I'd just wing it and still try to stay at the AAC Ranch - there is always a possibility of no-shows or last-minute changes. If that doesn't work, you can try to get a biker/hiker site at the Jenny Lake Campground - they are walk-in and no reservation sites. I've walked in there early-mid August during the busy tourist season and was able to get a site and there were still few open. You'll just need to park your car at the visitor center and walk to your camp (not much of a walk). Gros-Ventre campground (within the GTNP) usually has vacancies compared to others, it's a bit of a drive but still closer than staying in town. For a cheap place in town, try Virginian Lodge. For apres-climb feast and beer most people like Dornan's, but my absolute favorite is the Jackson Lake Lodge - get a table on the deck, order a drink from the bar, burger from the grill inside and watch otters and moose in the marshes of Jackson Lake and sunset over Mt. Moran. The prices are pretty reasonable for posh ambiance.
