Title pretty much says it. We might get some rain tonight. How long does it take for Maginot Line to dry out?

Last time I climbed maginot it rained a good bit the night before. It was pretty dry from what I remember -- few wet spots maybe but not enough that I really even noticed.

Most routes at Shortoff dry out within a few hours. The exceptions are from Big Corner and south (includes straight and narrow and construction job). Bring a water filter and take advantage of the spring (you'll probably need it this time of year).

FYI, Shortoff can be REALLY hot this time of year. And depending on the rain fall the spring at the top of the descent gully may be running at a trickle if at all.

Why can Shortoff be so hot in the summer? I thought it was one of the cooler places to climb

Shortoff is generally Southwest facing so by about 10 or 11 a.m. most of the wall is fully in the sun plus the approach and decent offers no shade, so it's tough to make a full day out of it. There are exceptions of course. Maginot stays shady longer in the winter so I'd imagine early morning you could knock this out and tilted world I'd guess.

Its at the southend of the gorge and the elevation is significantly lower than that of the High County (where a lot of people commute from). The summit slightly less than 3000 feet, thus most of the climbs are at around 2200-2800 feet in elevation. Also, the cliff faces west and bakes in the sun. It will be VERY HOT this time of year. Not to mention you start the approach your at around 1500 feet in elevation and its exposed the entire way up the the top of the cliff face. It could easily be around 85-90 degrees on any given day during the summer.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
