So I know there is a whole lot of word going around about Gear4rocks and their gear. What I was wondering, is if anybody has used or know somebody that used their ascenders/jumars. And then on ther other side of that question- if not do they look trust worthy? To me it doest look like much can go wrong with a pair of ascenders but if it does your screwed.... so give me your opinions and or stories!
Also don't think your mom would be stoked with having you put your safety at risk buying crap.

Meh, the ascenders look like a copycat of the Petzl Ascention ascenders. They dont look overly unsafe, but who knows. I would say that if you need an ascender to jug a fixed line in a tree once and a while or something of the like they might be fine. But if you are looking at getting a set to climb a big wall, then buy the good stuff, you will thank yourself later.
As long as they're as well made as their ice axe you'll be fine.
Not trying to knock the brand, I have their hammer and plastic stoppers and have been very happy. That said I'm not totally relying on those the same way jugging would on the ascenders. And for the record, that axe freaks me out.
I found a brand new left hand petzl ascender for like 45 bucks shipped on ebay- needless to say that made my month. I agree that spending the money is worth it when it comes to weight and saftey ratings that are recognized in the US.
