Climbing in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana?

Hi everybody,
I'm taking a little road trip to transport a friends vehicle from Atlanta to Houston and hoping to do some climbing along the way. Looks like there are plenty of places but what's good? I'm climbing mostly 10's these days and leading mostly sport. But I could follow whatever ( within reason). I'm looking for partners along the way also. I'm experienced and a safe belayer. Unfortunately I won't have space in my luggage to bring a rope. Sorry to be that person, I'll try to make up for it somehow (beer? avocado sandwiches? jokes?). So any info is welcome. Thanks.

when will you be in Atlanta?

The ultimate tour would look something like this....

From ATL, start by heading North for two hours....
Check out Tallulah on the way, then camp in Highlands.
Climb one of the big granite formations for however long you have, then head West along Hwy 64....
Camp and climb somewhere in Chattanooga....TWall, Sunset.
Head SW on I59 stopping at any or all of the Alabama crags along the way with Little River Canyon being the furthest North and HP40 and Steele being the furthest South along I59 before Birmingham.
Camp at HP40.
Leave for Louisiana....there is virtually no climbing in between unless you dip down to Moss Rock Preserve.

If not wanting to do the Northern leg of the first part, head West through Rome, GA to Lost Wall and Rock town.
Camp and climb here, then jog over to LRC, Jamestown, Sandrock or wherever.
Camp and climb, then follow I59 Southwest as per the above.

Sport climbing exclusively will greatly limit your options in the SE. However, Curahee, Fosters, LRC, Sandrock all offer predominantly bolted lines, the likes of which would keep you busy indefinately. Beware mixed lines - bolts/gear.

Weather will be a major consideration if this traveling is to occur soon. It's been raining for the most part for ten solid days with weather not clearing til Wednesday. January is always rough in the South with the precipitation and fluctuating temps.

Ben nailed it. Heading from Chatty down the I-59 strip will thrill you for days if you have the time.

Depending on when you're in the area I might be able to meet up with you in north GA somewhere.
