Will be in Reno from the 24th-4th. Looking to climb some ice in the Donner area, no idea if anything is in yet. I have AI 3 and lots of 5.10 rock leading experience but no WI leading exp (I would like to try WI leading though). I have all gear but only a couple screws. Would also be down for rock but looks like the weather is going to favor ice.

If I was you I would check out Coldstream canyon ice. It was cold and it should be in. Have not looked at it personally but someone mentioned there was some ice there even before this cold snap. It is top ropable- couple of screws wont help since the flow is kind of long. good luck.

Coldstream is in good shape. Just got back from there. We drove to the tracks but today was probably the last chance for that in a while. Skis/snowshoes highly recommend.

That approach to Coldstream is quite an adventure for the first time! Any photos?

+ 3,000,000 for snowshoes/skis! Starting to get deep out there

Thanks for the info guys. I'm in Reno now so if anyone wants to partner up let me know. I have AT skis and snow shoes for approach and a 4WD truck. I can meet at Truckee or the TH.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
