Can anyone confirm this? Doesn't look damaging, just curious as to what happened. Looks like its between Cleo's and Great Tower yfrog.com/z/ke1bsgthj

Sounds like careless hikers along the Tumbled Rocks trail, where it is said to have started. Burned and ran uphill, possibly towards Cleos area it looks from pic, but might be mostly on lower half of the slope.

We were climbing up on the West Rampart and a couple fire fighters came rushing in up above us. I thought they were looking to rescue someone at first, but then about an hour later we could smell and see the smoke rising from down by the cottages. Kind of wild seeing a motor boat filled with fire fighters cruising across the lake too.

Remo, get an exact location yet of fire damage? Rock climbs affected, or access trails closed now?

Woodchuck, I'm not sure what was affected if anything. I was home in time to catch the 5:00 local news and by that time they said the fire was contained. I'm assuming there was no damage to any climbs or should we see any trail closures.

All is well as of last Wed. when we climbed at Porkchop Buttress. NO smell and fire was contained....

Could you see where it was burned? Any details on amount of forest damage?

To all, it was mostly contained to the.boulders. It was luckily detected early.

Climbed at Wiessner yesterday. Viewed remnants of the fire. Spotted burned grass/leaves and charred branches at Wiessner boulder at the TOP of the West Bluff. Then spotted more burned areas as we worked down the access gully just north of Turks Head. Saw no damage to established routes. Judging from what I have heard and seen I think the fire may have started above the tumbled rocks trail and "jumped" it's way up the bluff maybe a little north of Turks Head Ridge.

Tumbled Rocks trail I presume, not Potholes trail? Wrong bluff.

Woodchuck - tumbled rocks is correct. It was contained to the actual boulders and barely touched the actual faces.

Above post is corrected, sorry about the confusion, I did indeed mean Tumbled Rock trail.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
