Hey errybody I'm looking for a moderately experienced partner for Rainier's Liberty ridge for the first week of august(one of the 50 classic climbs!)

August is late for Liberty. It's more of an early season climb, especially this year.

I'll second that. I climbed it in late June a couple of years ago and nearly got taken out by rockfall crossing from the Carbon Glacier onto the base of the ridge.

Thanks for the beta, recommend a better route?

I have the first two weeks in August free. Call me if you want to talk about route ideas.

Hi,

I will be trying liberty ridge with two more friends on June 25-26-27. The problem is that 3 people on 1 or 2 ropes is slow so we are looking for someone with some experience to lead the second party. Please let me know if you are interested so we can discuss it.

Andrew....August seems pretty late. The Carbon Glacier is likely to be a nightmare to cross and tons of debris falling down the wall. Better to plan for a safer route.

I'd like to reinforce others comments by saying I too almost got taken out by rockfall climbing it in mid June last year... make sure to be at Thumb rock by sunrise or in freezing temps with good snow coverage.

Ptarmigan ridge holds into August, and I'm looking for a partner to do it early in the month when I return to Washington if the conditions are looking good. I'm in colorado now working, but will be done the first week of August.

Im from Washington and I've climbed rainier multiple times, and have lots of glacier experience.
I'm also working at 10,000+ feet on long trips in the wilderness so I'm definitely acclimatized and in good shape.

Let me know if anybody is interested.

I might climb if the route condition is still climbable and we are not climbing on Sunday. I did Mt. Rainier a couple of times (2 sucesses out of 7) and Denali last year.

Hey Chase, and OP,
My partner bailed for our early August plans for Kautz. I'm in CO, and would be heading out 8/8 or 8/9. I'd be interested in Ptarmigan Ridge, or Kautz glacier routes, or perhaps others. I'd love to discuss details if either of you are interested. I haven't been to Rainier before, but I'm in shape and acclimated.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
