If you're in the Cape Ann area and are looking for a partner, let me know! I have a rope and enough trad gear to lead climbs at RR, and have a spare bouldering mat as well.

I have odd blocks of time off during the week, and most weekends off.

Looking to do bouldering, TR, lead, etc at Red Rocks or anywhere in the area, I'm a 10-15min drive from RR. I climb in the 5.9-10 range for slabs and boulder V2-4(?), I'm just looking to get out and climb.

Send me a PM or reply to this thread

Hey,

I'm there fairly often in weekdays, don't live there, but visit a few times a weeks, ad climb at the same level. Let me know if you are interested.

Just climbed at RR for the first time yesterday, great. I had done a little bouldering in the area and hit the main cliff yesterday at lunch and ran laps on the easier climbs. Shits classic.

It's a nice area. Good God, Zipper is amazing. I spent an afternoon before working out there with an ascender and a sharpie to keep track of my laps. I ended up doing 30 some odd laps.

can you park at the vets office, it looks like there is some sort of parking. i tried to find dougs roof yesterday and got lost. I believe i found OZ and looped back by the main cliff back to my truck. Drove to the vets place, saw the kong boulder. How far from there to down under?

Please don't park at the Vet Hospital! Even on Sundays someone is there to see emergencies.

If you saw the Kong boulder then you are VERY close to Down Under. Just continue on the trail from the backside of Kong and head North parallel to Rt. 133 and you will see Down Under and Doug's Roof up on the hill to your left.

If you had trouble finding the trail in from the Oz area maybe this will help: From Oz find the obvious wide gravel pipeline trail. Head downhill back towards the storage facility keeping a VERY close lookout up in the trees (like 20 feet high) on your left as you head downhill. After a short distance from Oz you will see a rotten wooden tree perch (maybe for hunting?). This will mark the start of the trail heading north to Down Under and it will bring you through the woods within a stone's throw of the backside of the Vet Hospital. You will pass some lower slabs, then the Kong Boulder, then head uphill a bit and you will be at Doug's Roof. This isn't a very well-established trail and sometimes feels like you are bushwacking but is the best option for approaching Down Under.

Good luck and PM me if you need any further explanation. It gets harder to find once the trees fill in and you can't see boulders clearly through the foliage.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
