Very very sorry to hear that. I knew he was in poor health for a while now. I was glad to meet him a couple of years ago at Kinfolks. I hope his family and loved ones are around him now. We'll be thinking of him over here. |

Sad news. Larry thanks for keeping track of and supporting Harvey through the years. He is one of a kind for sure. |

Visited Harvey today, Sunday. |

Met him a few times, but more than anything, I just can't believe some of the places I've found his red dots. Just when I'd feel that I'd found a crag way way out there, five or six miles off old stage or something, where I was sure no climber had been crazy enough to explore, sure enough I'd see his red dot at the base of anything climbable (and sometimes stuff not so climbable!). |

Harvey Carter passed away this afternoon. |

Just heard on the Taco and FB through Stewart Greene and some other friends. We have an appreciation thread going on the Taco if you would like to visit it. |

RIP Harvey. |

I was never fortunate to meet Harvey. |

Knew about the red/pink dots around GG from decades ago.....great man, historic climber. |

Thanks for all the inspiration Harvey, you were a true Colorado Springs Icon. When I learned to climb in Cheyenne Canyon way back when, Harvey Dots were the guidebook. |

It is a true sadness to learn of Harvey's passing. A great man has left us a great legacy. Some non-climbing photos of Harvey can be seen in the Facebook Photo Album titled "In Remembrance of Harvey T. Carter" viewed at facebook.com/media/set/?set…;type=3 |

Thanks for the vision and the routes Harvey. Never met him, but he was a big inspiration and influence for me. |

Many Thanks to everyone who gave Harvey support while he was ailing. His passing has surely closed an era in American rock climbing. He was surrounded by friends and family in his last hours and left without pain and little suffering. Are those ringing bells or pins being driven I hear drifting down from Heaven? Lets keep the memories alive!! As soon as I get my act together, there'll a slide show coming to a venue near you (Apr.-May) Thanks again to all on behalf of the Carters. Peace, Larry |

One of our elite tribal elders has passed. |
|
|
He'll be missed. I think we'll alway refer to his cabin as Harvey's place. |
