Coming down from owens river tablelands on Tues afternoon I saw smoke stretching to the whites and seemed to be coming from north of june lake in the sierra. On my way home, 120 was closed but sonora and Hwy89 were open. All suggesting a rather bizarre winter fire incident in the high country, but cant find any info on calfire. Anyone from the area confirm or shed light?

FWIW, the Tioga Pass closure was a put into place last night in anticipation of the storm system that is supposed to start rolling through. So the road closure probably isn't directly linked to a fire.

Might be unrelated, but there was a fire up by Starlight near the Buttermilk a couple of days ago, a runaway campfire from boulderers. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you are camping near Bishop, for god's sake be careful and put your campfire COMPLETELY OUT. This can and will cause access issues if it continues to happen. Thank you.

It was a controlled burn on Deadman summit
