Hey erboutitman, Have you guys been there before? Camping arrangements? Pads? I think they rent pads too. Any problems youve got your eye on?

If you've never been to HP40, its the Disneyland of the bouldering world...there will be plenty of other boulderers to session with, the camping is right out of the back of your car and right next to the boulders, the store and grill will keep you stocked up on everything but beer and the Greener Grass guide is fool proof to finding your way around. There really is no need in looking for a partner ahead of time because there will be plenty of other folks around and the psyche is always high. I'm not trying to be a turd, just letting you know you shouldn't be worried about any logistics except bringing your gear and beer and the rest always takes care of itself:)

Last time I was there besides for Triple Crown, they had pads for rent...but just to be safe, I'd call or email just to make sure. Folks are usually so friendly that they don't mind sharing their pads if you're working the same problem. Here's a link to their site ...givem a holler and they can fill you in on the pad situation... horsepens40.tripod.com/inde… Enjoy the incredible bouldering!

I never went there before but what those dudes just said is what i read in regards to camping. We're gonna have like 3 or 4 pads so we should be pretty good for most of everything. See ya there

I live nearby-ish and can lend a couple pads as needed, if needed....in exchange for beer and scout's honor promise on returning them.
Just a freindly public service announcement.

Hows the weather been down there lately? Would hate to get rained out...

Rainy and cold, with moments of sun and milder temps over the last couple weeks. Fluctuating patterns of cold and damp, followed by warm and rainy, then cold and damp again. Fleeting sun, a most commonly, crap weather has been on weekends for the last month. Christmas was raw.

Expectations this weekend are for clear days Fri and Sat with a higher chance of rain on Sunday. Monday and beyond is forecast to be clear again.

The 40% chance of rain on Sunday, in the TAG area, means that it will probably rain mild to heavily somewhere, at some point, but likely not all day. Alternatively, the other common outcome is a misting rain for the majority of the day. One never can tell in the SE.

Now, on your clear days, or in the case that the weather blows through, with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s, you will be afforded prime conditions. Sandstone, tshirts, friction, all that.

Overcast skies would make for chilly temps on a craggy hillside, even at the Tennessee Wall or Steele, but this won't be a problem at HP40 given the layout and the proximity to hot chocolate and heavy jackets.

Bottom line: This means go ahead and gamble on climbing all weekend. Statistically speaking, you might get some weather, but that's what campfires and bourbon are for.

Looks like the weather should be good for the first couple of days. I'm pretty psyched to get down south and some of the classics I've been looking at for so long.

Weather update: Skies have cleared. Chance of precipitation is slim. Sunny + cold = Winning. Let the TAG rejoice.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
