There's a youth rock climbing team in Banos, Ecuador that could benefit especially from some shoes and harnesses (small and med.) and kids sizes up to men's 9 would be ideal. Helmets, carabiners, draws, and belay devices would be appreciated as well if you're looking to clean out the closet. I'll cover all the shipping costs when heading south on Oct. 10th. Please pm me if you'd like to arrange a pick-up nearby the Boulder, Lyons, or Estes Park areas or if you'e willing to serve as a collection point. Cheers, Eli
Eli, I could serve as a collection point in Eldo. Might be convenient for many since it is now Eldo season. Folks can drop stuff by my front door and it should stay out of the rain until I get home. I live in the pink house across from the first parking lot in town (about a block before the park entrance). Leave stuff by the pink door behind the flower garden.

I was in Banos in June and was chatting it up with a local climber there named Cabrito...super good guy. He was in the process of bolting a lot of new routes in that limestone. I'll see what I can find...
Thanks Mark for the donation point in Eldo and I'll be stopping by at least a few times this week for pick-ups after work in the canyon.
From '95-96, we FA'd 8 sport routes above the beach at the entrance to the canyon (Rio Pastazas) next to the zoo; the Zoologico Vertical is this sector of routes in Banos, and we're planning on adding a bunch more moderates (and some desperates) this fall to open up more options. We'll also be replacing bolts that have degraded due to river flooding. The rock is bulletproof basalt and much of it's been river polished and is vertical to overhanging.
The local guides started a kids climbing team around 2000 and they've been flourishing in a country that has recently held a youth world cup competition- the first in S.A?
They are always needing more gear, especially in the kids sizes. Climbing means a lot to these folks in a place that has little alternative sports to futbol; climbing has been a life transforming experience in many of these kids lives.
Thanks for all the support- I'll be posting photos here of the team and gear in action as we'll be living down there a bit this fall.
Just a few more days before I head down south if you've got kids gear in the closet that you're ready to clean-out, or smaller women's size gear would also be useful. Cheers, Eli
