That is right, is time to give a little love to our Orifice! This season was quite a blast at the Orifice Wall. Many people came during the hot summer, and still come now, to enjoy the step rock and the phenomenal climbing. We've seen many proud sends and shared a great spirit of camaraderie. This is a place that many of us absolutely LOVE. Now, at this point, the high traffic of climbers is causing a very rapid decay of the aluminum carabiners in the fixed chain draws. Particularly in routes like Orifice Politics, Coup d'tat and A Hard Day in the Orifice. The consequential groove and sharp edge produced in the carabiners can damage ropes and is, no need to say, a very serious life threat to the climbers. Some of those carabiners were replaced several times during the season, but still, a better solution must be implemented. To this end, Canada Eric and Luis Cisneros are organizing a little collect. We are asking YOU all fellow "Orificers" to pitch in a small contribution in order to adquire steel carabiners to replace in the more vulnerable and run down chain-draws. We estimate that we need at least 30 carabiners (at $7 each) but up to 60 will definitely find a place on the wall. Please contact either one of us to make your contribution. Dropping ten or twenty bucks wont hurt you as much as getting your rope core shot or taking a ground fall. This is for our own safety.
PS1 Please spread the word! PS2 We will report on the accounting. We will use ALL the money collected to buy as many biners as we can get.

Nice! thanks all... I knew this was going to be easy and well received by this awesome community. I am actually super busy with work until friday, but I will try to set up some online option for people to contribute (paypal or something like that) as soon as I can... Also, I will be out of town until next week. In the mean time, if you want to give us cash personally, you can try to find Eric. I think he is going to be at the Orifice this weekend.

Hey peeps... I created a FundRazr in Facebook in order to receive contributions via Paypal. We will pay a nick less than 5% for the service, but it will be of great convenience for at lot of people. Hunting us down to give us money is not what most people want to expend their time doing ;) YOU DON'T NEED TO HAVE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT TO DO IT. Just check the following link: goo.gl/aZq1y ... and click on "Give" to make your donation. Please let me know if you have any questions or problems. We are probably going to try to re-equip the routes in a week from now. Any help for such event will be most appreciated. Thanks all for your blinding awesomeness l

I clicked the link Luis, it just asked me to sign in. There was no "give" button. The season is coming to an end; Just wondering why you want to replace them now instead of at the begining of next season?

mmm... Lucas, you should see a screen like this... I don't think you need to sign in in FB... but maybe I am smoking crack? let me know if it works There is no reason to do it now other than this is just the time we have and we wanted to get it over with before is too cold. Is a long wait until the start of the new season and I don't know if I will be around then... cheers

well, that is weird... I suppose it won't work for some people then... It may be something related to the flash plugin. But I don't want to deal with it. I'll get the money from you :) Sorry if this doesn't work for somebody else.

Update: Several very kind people have given me cash (they should know better then to trust a Canadian) and we are getting close to having 200 dollars to work with. That is near our minimum goal, but it would be great to raise a few more dollars. Thanks to everyone who has already contributed. I will be up at the Orifice this Tuesday if anyone wants to give me cash, or feel free to send me a message and I can meet you somewhere. Otherwise, hit up the site Luis set up. Thanks much. We are planning on ordering equipment on Thursday so if you are going to contribute do it soon ;) Thanks again, we are pretty excited about getting up there and replacing all those groovy biners.

Haha.. good idea Joe!... but I think knee pads would be even better given the nature of the climbing there... we can come out with some clever slogan... something that involves the words "Love", "Orifice" and "On your Knees"... but I can't think of anything

Thanks a million to everyone for your support!!! This is a great example of the reasons why I love this place and this climbing community so much. Also, I want to give a very special big THANKS to RocksRopes Gym for its contribution of $100. It makes a huge difference. R&R is not only our home, our meeting point and the start of many adventures, but also, a constant and active support of this climbing community and a huge component in what makes it so special. Thank you! Now, there is a few more hours for the late birds that want to contribute! We are placing the order tonight. I will post the details of the actual re-equipping day in due time. We will need a few climbers to help out... As strong and badass as Eric is, he is a bit worried about having to climb every line in the Orifice Wall in one day, and that would be a long day belaying for me :)
