"...and that is why I needed the grappling hook." (the ninja kind)

I noticed the CMI grappling hook is one of the dirtbag deals and it got me wondering if anyone actually owns or uses one. Does anyone have a story they can tell that ends with, "and that is why I needed the grappling hook." ? If no one replies then my suspicion will be confirmed that all use of such a device results in arrest warrants or restraining orders.

(If you have ever placed a BD grappling hook on lead of a non-aid climb I would be entertained by that story as well.)

Search function fail. Won't happen again.

I used to use the BD grappling hook with an aid ladder to climb the outside of houses in Iraq when I was a sniper.

i haven't used the grappling hook, but i have used a standard bd hook (cliffhanger i think) on lead on free routes a couple times. haven't fallen on it though.

I have used a hex as a grappling hook. I think it's a Jeff Lowe ninja trick.

Although it is in regards to technical canyoneering & not climbing, one needs a grappling hook to escape a keeper pothole in Barney Springs Canyon in Sedona, AZ. You have to toss it up & hook a bush with it, then climb up the cord to get out.

I once went to one of those beer nights you see on this forum.

And that is why I needed the grappling hook.

True story.
