My friends and I are going to HCR this Memorial day weekend and since we haven't been there I'm wondering what to expect for the camping, especially on a holiday. We don't plan to get there until Saturday so I'm wondering if this place fills up or not? Any other advice is appreciated as well.

Camping at the Ranch can be pretty full on the weekends but normally you can always find a spot or two to camp. However, I would imagine on this weekend it might be packed. There are some other camp sites 5 minutes away from HCR. Try Steel Creek Campground or Buffalo River Ranch. Beautiful areas with a less than 10 minute drive from HCR.

If you do find a spot at HCR, they have outdoor restrooms and picnic tables. If you forget something essential they have a trading post where you can purchase necessary items, they also have a shower. If you prefer peace and tranquility try the other camp sites. Camping at the Ranch can get kind of loud with the goats and party people.

Thanks for the notes. About the goats, I've heard the goat herd doesn't get along well with dogs. Is that a real issue?

Dogs are no longer allowed at HCR. I don't know if there was a specific incident or what, but ther is now a rule prohibiting dogs.

Also, I concur with Brent that it will probably be busy this weekend, but everyone is friendly and you can usually squeeze in somewhere. Camping is $5/night/person at HCR. Another option that is really cool is Kyles Landing about 15 min drive away on the Buffalo River.
