Im a new climber with a rope. I've been climbing in the gym for a little and I want to transition to the outdoors. Im looking for someone who can guide me along? Do some easy climbs in the fort Collins area?

I might suggest you clarify a little bit. Im not being critical - Im just saying that your post reads more like "hey Im a new guy looking for some free training"

I was in a similar situation to you about a year and 1/2 ago - I started asking around and here are my thoughts:

1. Are you looking for someone to TRAIN you?
2. What skills might you already have if any? List them. Top rope belay? Lead belay? Can you build any anchors?
3. What type of climbing do you think you want to do? Trad or Sport etc
4. Climbing is not something to be taken lightly - spend some $ to do it right. Yes training can be expensive. Consider taking some small group classes to learn - CMC, Boulder Rock Club etc OR hire a private certified guide to take you out - this is what I did and the time and money spent are invaluable.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to "tag along" but make it clear what skills you do and (more importantly do not) have and what youre goals are and people may be more receptive...

Hope that helps

Hey, i just moved to Laramie, and spend my weekends around the FC area. There are quite a few climbs in the area that i would like to hit up, but dont have a climbing partner/belayer. If you are up for it sometime let me know, i know of several areas in between laramie and fo co off 287. Also there is vedauwoo as well. Let me know if you are interested in getting out

I am also a new climber in Fort Collins looking for partners. Mostly available weekends. I'd love to meet some people to climb with.

Thanks,
John

Looks like plenty of people were receptive without him having to post his entire climbing history and a blood type.

No ya don't.

Good luck Jeremy. BTW, you do not need to hire anyone or attend any classes to become a climber. Just take your time, ask lots of questions and have fun.

Jeremy, I'd be happy to climb with you. I started the same way - posted an ad and met a few people willing to "train" me. Best way to learn if you ask me. I know the Big Thompson Canyon area pretty well, and St. Vrain. Many fun moderate sport & trad routes there. I also train on Fridays at Inner Strength if you ever want to join.

Jeremy, and anyone else in this thread, I'd be more than happy to meet up and climb. I've got a full rack and rope. As long as you can give a solid belay and clean gear, I'm always looking for new friends to climb with.

Shoot me a message on here, or facebook me, facebook.com/profile.php?id…

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
