What's up with Pro Deal Resoles????

Bennett at Pro Deals had my shoes since mid October and I had given them up for lost. 10 days ago they showed up in the mail fully repaired and nicely done to boot. Better late then never I guess.

FYI...I've been using Rock and Resole since they opened ans have had literally
had shoes resoled, and occasional rand caps, a couple dozen times. The work has been great. Eric is truly proud of the work he puts out and is always looking for ways to improve his product.
The one time I had a premature de-lamination, he warranteed the defect and re-glued it for free.
It makes me feel good to support someone who's a real craftsman in an otherwise "fast and dirty" world.

So, just to set the record straight. I did finally get my shoes back from pro deal resoles after almosty exactly 5 months. So Benet is not ripping people off, and the whole deal would have been much easier if he would of just returned one of my many emails and or voice messages. Then at least I would have known what was going on. I still will not use Pro Deal Resoles again.

Glad to have my shoes back.

Hey Kurt,

Glad to hear about the positive ending to your story. I'm hoping for the same outcome as I am in the same predicament. I sent my shoes in mid-nov and have not seen hide nor hare of them and narry a response from Pro Deal.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I think it's important to keep the warnings active and prevent more people from suffering a similar fate.

I sent my shoes to prodeal resoles in June, my credit card was charged in August, and I finally received my resoled shoes at the end of February. He never returned a phone call or email. So far I'm happy with the resole, but that kind of customer service is simply unacceptable.

Oh No! Wish I would have read this before. They have done my shoes several times in the past and done a great job. They have had them for 3 weeks now and I was expecting them back this week for a trip, but cannot get ahold of them. They have 3 pairs of shoes!! Anyone know how I might proceed to get my shoes back? I'm worried now. The phone number posted in January no longer works. I get no correspondance on the email and the phone number listed on the website is full and never answered by anyone. Any recommendations on what I can do please let me know. Kurt, did calling the police help?
Thanks!
Jennifer

Hey Jennifer, sorry to hear that you sent him 3 pairs. I wish there was a way to either get Benet to at least respond and defend him self or just close up business. Calling the police realy did not help any, they told me there was no crime since he still had my shoes and was intending to provide the service(even if it takes months) which he did. So my only advice for you now is to wait and wait and wait. Your shoes will eventually show up. In the mean time we as a climbing community need to figure out a way to get the word out about Prodeal resoles. Best of luck

rock n resole. Under a week with shipping times and I'm in Chicago. The resole feels better than when the shoes were new also.

Well, Benet Stricca called and emailed me back. He said he apologized he didn't get to contact me earlier and that I would have my shoes by beginning of next week. When I told him about the issues others have had, he said he went through a really bad time last year and that he vows to bring the service back to what it was. So, hopefully he Is turning it around. Unfortunate that he has caused himself to lose so many customers though.

So heres my experience and recent update:
I sent in 2 pairs of shoes to PDR well over a year ago. Over the course of the year, I have left dozens of voicemails, emails etc, and have never gotten any reply whatsoever. Earlier in the month however, I decided to redouble my efforts, and start calling and emailing him again. Again, i got no reply. However, my missing pairs of shoes turned up at my old house this week. I have not seen them in person yet, but based on the photos my girlfriend sent me, the work actually looks pretty damn good, and I dont think the check i wrote ever got cashed.

Obviously i DO NOT recommend you send your send your shoes to PDR for resole anytime soon, but maybe those of you out there with missing shoes would benefit from sending some more angry emails and voicemails. Good luck!

Aren't we all tired of seeing this thread pop up every month or two? I wonder if anyone has gone looking for the guy, baseball bat in hand.

I am surprised anyone uses him anymore. I never have but it sounds night and day different than R&R, guess more business for the good guys.

I've been looking at getting my shoes resoled, and was thinking about using pro deal resoles, but after reading all kinds of bad reviews I'm thinking twice. Has anyone heard anything good about them recently?

I've actually been emailing Benet back and forth and he replies quite quickly to my emails (same day). He says the turnaround time right now is 8-10 days plus 2-3 days to ship for only $47. This includes return shipping and rand repair which is why I was originally attracted to pro deal resoles in the first place.

All the reviews I have found about Benet and his company have been absolutely awful. However, it seems like he does a pretty good job with the repairs (if you ever manage to get your shoes back). Also, most bad reviews I read were from 2010 or early 2011 but I havent seen any reviews (good or bad) from 2012 at all. The most recent review I've seen has been from over a year ago.

It doesn't seem like he is out of business (due to our emails) and he hasn't gotten any bad reviews in over a year (but also no good ones). Could it be that no one has anything negative to say about him anymore and his business has turned around? Or is it that he has absolutely zero customers now? Should I email him to see if he will address some of these issues people have had with him in the past? Should I ask for him to send a picture of my repaired shoes before I send payment? I just don't know what to think or what to do.

Rock and Resole is the center of the universe!!! They do great work!!!!!

Aaron,

I'll give you my honest opinion....I've been climbing for over sixteen years and have used quite a few different places for resoles. The best (red rock resoles) has been closed for quite sometime after the owner was in a fatal motorcycle accident. She was the best, wish I could find someone like her. I honestly believe PDR did a better job than both rock and resole and rubber room. (I've used both, but both over 5 years ago). However, after my most recent dealings with PDR (I had used him probably 3times prior) he had my shoes for 2-3 months!! That scared me as he had three pairs of shoes. I won't use him again and guess I'll try out rock and resole again. Hoping they do a better job than the last time I sent them as my resoles only lasted about a month before they were peeling.

Benet Stricca (PDR) does a good job, but it is a gamble if you'll get them back!!

My two pairs got to Benet on the 14th and he says he will get them done by Thursday. I'm out of the country so I won't be able to know exactly when they get home but I got an email reply within three hours. I'm sure people have had sucky experiences but slow turn around is part of the deal with any resoler, if they get popular they will get swamped. I'll reserve my judgement until I get my shoes back, a lot of resolers are climbing/surfing bums, they deal with nasty ass smelly shoes and acrid glue fumes, I don't expect perfection from them but more often than not that is what we get.

Jon, let us know how it goes and if you get your shoes back on time! Good luck!

All I can say is that the folk at Rock and Resole have been awesome fixing way too many of my shredded shoes.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
