Got Old Ropes for Sale - Make Me an Offer

(I'm posting this in the Utah forum because I don't want to ship them)

I've got several old, shorter ropes, as you can see in the pic below. Make me an offer for $ or trade.

The first rope and the third rope are actually the same rope, as you can probably tell. The rope was originally 60m, but a section got burned (long story...) and I had to take out a foot of it. One section is probably 10-15m, the other is 45-50m. I'd still be leading on the rope were it not for the fact that I had to cut it up. But is an older rope, so maybe shorter TRing is what it would be best for.

Next we've got the red rope. This rope is crap. It's got core shots and has hung in the sun for a few months. It's good only as a fixed hand line somewhere (that's what I used the rest of it for).

The rope on the far right is in very good shape, but is short, about 10 meters or so.

Just recycle them, give them away, or make a rug and give it to someone. It's Christmas.

are any of them CCH rope?

Yes, it is Christmas. So someone should probably give something back to me for the thousands of dollars I've spent on route development.

Instead, I'm trying to sell these ropes so that I can eat something other than $5 pizzas. Or at least get another couple pizzas.

People sell used ropes all the time. You want the red one? Come get it. You want the others? Let's exchange something of value.

BTW I said fixed hand line, not fixed line. It would work fine for getting you past that 15 feet of exposed third class on an approach.

Merry Christmas to you, too, assholes.

Tristan,

Don't let this thread ruin your holidays. I hope you did not find my post offensive. It wasn't intended to be. These ropes just have zero monetary value.

I know you put a lot of work into developing quality safe routes. Thank you!

Evan

Nah, it takes more than some inflammatory remarks from strangers on a rock climbing forum to ruin my holidays these days.

40m of still usable (not for everything, admittedly) rope doesn't have value? I disagree. The others not having value? I disagree. Sure, not much value. But some. It's not like I'm looking to make enough to buy a new rope or anything.

I don't have a problem with used gear but his post implies that these ropes are useful for something other than tying down loads or rug making. If they are crap (as he says they are) then they are crap and NO ONE should be trusting their life to them. Ever. You should be ashamed of yourself for defending this. Good luck with your sale.

You can disagree without being disagreeable.

I'll give you 5 oval biners, $10, and a forty of old E for all that rope. I'm serious.
I'm in SLC but I I'll meet you half way

Tristin,
This is hilarious!!
1) You actually thought there would be much value at all in an old, beat up rope?
2)You thought that value was enough to call someone an asshole when they didn't want to buy it?
3) Who are you developing routes for?
4) Do you honestly feel that you're doing the world a huge service for the routes you've developed?
5)Do you really think that anyone owes you anything for the routes you've developed?
6)Weren't you stoked enough to see your name in the mags?

And now you're calling people out for now wanting to buy your beat up old ropes?
wow! That's an unexpected Christmas laugh.

We've all been poor too. No one told you to spend that money on those routes.

It seems that few here are willing or able to look past the fact that someone is selling old ropes and instead try to imagine what sort of desperate circumstances would makes someone want to do such a thing. Therefore, this thread is hereby locked.
