petzl rep was in the store i work at a few weeks ago. march '11 is when they hope to be out.

i got to play with the one that the rep had and its pretty sweet. similar in size to my cinch and handles smaller cord. not sure that ill get one, only because how many auto lockers does one really need??

petzl has had some issues getting certain products out on the market "on time" recently (CORE battery ex.) but hopefully the grigri2 wont face this problem

also the price will be the same at the current grigri. they will be taking a bit of a profit percentage hit on this but they figure its the right thing to do.

Saw some folks using a pre-production model of it at Smith a few months ago. Looked slick.

Granted, their 'belaying' consisted of standing 20 ft from the wall and holding the cam open the whole time. But I guess if you're warming up on 12d it's, how do you say? ah yes, tres magnifique.

I bought a grigri for my wife to belay my fat ass more comfortably with, but only used it once (5 yrs). I've always used my old ATC for everything else. This smaller version however looks pretty cool.

Looks like I'll be waiting to buy that unless I can get a cinch before the grigri 2 comes out. Smaller is better...

I got to play with one a couple weeks ago, its amazing, unbelievable improvements in all aspects, an amazing lower with 3 stages of friction for the lower.

If your going to by anything like this on the market, wait for this amazing tool.

I got to fiddle with it for a couple minutes at the Petzl booth at the Nor'Easter festival in September. Didn't get to belay with it though.

The biggest improvements are the reduced size/weight and the different ergonomics that allow you to feed rope quickly without pinching the cam or removing a couple fingers from the brake strand.

I'm probably going to stick with my Cinch anyway. Love it (and it's still $40 cheaper).
