We just dumped a large box of assorted old (70s, maybe some 80s)magazines (Mountain, Climbing, Rock and Ice) in varying condition by a dumpster in the alley running between 22nd and 23rd streets just south of Walnut (between Walnut and Canyon) in Boulder. Don't know if anyone might want them or how long they'll be there, but right now they're there for the taking.

Someone's going to be really happy snagging those mags, Wendy! Old magazines can come in really handy for finding long forgotten sites, and for beta on special, unique no longer publicized places.
We're going after old Desert Magazines such as from this time period-

I'm hitting up the antique shops-thanks for the reminder, Wendy!
The vintage advertisements alone, are worth their weight in gold! Cool, and funny stuff to browse through. : )

I hope you're right and someone takes them -- better than them just being recycled along with all the junk mail.

Yikes! Just tossed them? I would have thought first maybe a library, school, or even climbing gym might have found some use for them. The AAC Library might not have some of them in their stacks and could determine if they'd be a useful addition to the ever-growing collection.

Heck, even Craigslist or e-Bay might have found new owners!

She probably was fed up and wanted to rid the clutter now

There are plenty of professional dumpster divers around (I'd imagine that there's many self employed PDDs working the Boulder area) who will snag the mags, if an MPer hasn't already beaten them to it. No need to worry, I'm sure they will be in good hands before the trash is collected. You probably made someone's day today! Hope everyone has a peaceful Memorial Day, whether it be paying respect to the lost soldiers or barbequing with loved ones, or climbing on rocks. Whatever floats your boat.

I understand that, certainly...I also think we take some of these items for granted or devalue them when they might be a treasure-trove for someone else. The Spot or Movement Gyms in Boulder? Front door of CU Boulder Administration or athletics building? Goodwill? And not the landfill?

Shoot, bring them to the American Mountaineering Center next time through town and they could be given away. It's a pre-selected audience there.

@Adam, You got it right; we're moving and want to be rid of them NOW. We're dumping lots of obsolete climbing, camping, and skiing gear of dubious value to anyone.

@Martha, They're a random assortment and in random condition. I doubt that any of the local gyms or libraries would want them, and we're not planning to drive to Golden in the foreseeable future.

@Dirty Gri Gri, or is it GiGi? Hopefully a local climbing dumpster diver will take them and maybe some of our other old stuff as well.

I grabbed some of the more choice issues, I would have nabbed the whole box, but I couldn't get my car in there because of the Bolder Boulder, and I'm way too lazy to drive back tonight. Thanks though, I got some super classic stuff.

Glad to hear it, Evan. When I looked a few hours ago, they were all gone.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
