I'm moving out to eugene in a couple months and was wondering what the climbing was like out there. Good places to go? Thanks for the info.

Eugene- Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, there is good climbing around Eugene. Note: I said good, not great.

Flagstone- slab and sport climbing on polished white andesite. Very "well" bolted.

Wolf Rock- Killer sport and trad on Oregon's biggest monolith.

The Garden- Great, if mossy, bouldering.

Callahans- Oregon's only climbable sandstone, that I know of...

All of the above are within an hour of Eugene (depending on how fast you drive).

-90 mins. to Smith

-3.5 hours to Lost Rocks

......And, in town, you have the columns. They aren't that cool, but you can ride your bike to them!

Eugene is a fun town, I went to college there.

Eugene has some very moderate sport climbing and bouldering within an hours drive. Equally moderate alpine climbing and skiing. World class crack climbing, but relatively untraveled (and for that reason a bit licheny) trad climbing is just over an hour away when it's not too snowy. (ask around at Backcountry Gear) And then there's Smith and Trout. 2-3 hours away.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
