I was just about to post the same link! Here is the article in the local paper.
Clear Creek County recently acquired the 76-acre Oxbow Parcel south of U.S. Highway 6 near Tunnel 5 with help from a $725,000 Great Outdoors Colorado grant.
In October 2009, the GOCO Board awarded the money to the county to be used toward the purchase of a conservation easement on the property. Supporting partners include the Colorado Mountain Club, The Access Fund, Colorado Whitewater, Trout Unlimited, the International Mountain Bicycling Associatio, and Rafting Outfitters on Clear Creek.
With steep canyon walls and approximately 3,000 feet of Clear Creek running through it, the Oxbow Parcel provides easy access to the creek for fishing and rafting, as well as to the Cat Slab rock wall, a popular destination among rock climbers.
The property will be open to the public soon, and it serves as a critical piece of the Clear Creek Greenway, which will run the entire length of Clear Creek County. Ultimately, the greenway is slated to connect to the Jefferson County Clear Creek Canyon Trail project, creating a continuous greenway from the Denver metro area to the Continental Divide.
