boulder canyon suggestions?

need suggestions for a crag that's warm, sunny, short approach, and with couple easy routes for the boss lady. would be nice to have some harder climbs in between too. will probably look up the guide book when i get home...

hmmm... Boulder canyon is pretty wet and snow covered right now. The faces might be climbable, but expect some snow on top if you are setting up top ropes. The 'Boulderado' Area might work. It is south facing, very near the road,has some very easy routes, and is nearby harder routes at Animal World (up the hill from Boulderado). The 'Riviera' and 'Happy hour Crag' are also south facing and generally warm with easy routes, but expect a sloppy approach with some snow on the way. Both of these crags have more options for a variety of climbing difficulty.

I don't know how short of an approach you're looking for; Blob Rock/Happy Hour is only icy for the first little bit right now, but it is maybe a 15-20 minute somewhat steep hike. The Bihedral/Riviera is considerably more icy and slippery for pretty much the whole way, but a little less of an approach, and it's been nice and warm. Haven't been to Boulderado lately, but that's about the easiest and shortest approach in the canyon, but nothing over 5.8 except the mediocre bolted 9+ to the right of it and some 12.something that I've never tried. Animal World is right above, though, and has lots of good lines, although it's more shady with the trees around it. I like to climb something easy at the Boulderado as a warmup, continue past the anchors to the top, and then you can belay up your second and arrive at Animal World just uphill.

yeah, those are what i was thinking... might consider dog house at clear creek. north table would be okay but the approach is too long for the boss lady's taste.

I was up at Animal World on Sunday and the rock was pretty dry, with a few exceptions. By now, I'm sure it's even better. The approach is snowy/icy/slippery, but it only takes 7 minutes to walk.

Anybody been up to Dream Canyon recently? If there's anything dry, I'd like to know.
