Lauri and I had a blast at the new gym last night. The walls are tall (bigger than R&J IMO), the features are interesting, and the holds rock! I love climbing on fresh plastic, and they have some great holds from many companies. Tons of So Ill holds. Their bouldering wall when complete will probably be one of the biggest in the state. Great job on the amazing gym Alex, it's a winner for sure.

I climbed at the new City Rock on 12/27. It was only partially open because the bouldering is not yet built and they are waiting on the lead draws but still lots of good climbing. I did enjoy all the varying wall angles. There is a lot of overhanging stuff which makes for a good workout but can make it difficult to get back on route if you fall off and are trying to work a sequence on top rope. Overall, I think the roped climbing is quite an improvement over the other gyms in the Springs. There was a large empty parking lot pretty much right next to the building. Is that open for climbing gym parking? Can't wait to try out the bouldering when it gets built!

We are in talks with the company that owns the parking lot to the South to see if we can arrange an agreement for folks to use it. If that doesn't pan out we will work with the parking garage across the street to work out a validation process for parking. From what I understand it's only $1 to park in there after 2pm. Cheers!

What are your standards for the dry-tooling routes? Leashes, umbilical cords, helmet, ???

We have ordered helmets with vizion shields to protect against face shots, umbilical cords will be required. When people are drytooling a route, we will section off the floor around it with cones to protect from people walking underneath.

Went and checked out the gym last night. It will really be a world-class facility once it is completed. Did some lead plus a bunch of top-rope stuff with some really awesome dynamic moves. Looking forward to the bouldering being completed! Nice job guys.

that roof with the airplane on it is gnarly. great job with the gym. I'm definitely coming back before I go back to CU even though a fraction of it is open.

The photos are very impressive. I'm glad to hear that the soft opening was a success. I'm excited to head back down from Denver and check it out. Good work to everyone involved! I can see this gym being a great contribution to the climbing community in the Springs. I can't wait to see the bouldering!

Some more cracks of varying size would be a nice feature of the bouldering area once you get it built. Or just put some more on the vertical walls. You would be surprised how helpful gym cracks are to helping people learn jamming technique.

We will have a nice finger crack on the bouldering wall, and in future expansions hope to add a new wall with just cracks.

Visited this place today and I must say I was proven very wrong. No kids having bday parties!! The bouldering seems like it will be very solid once the walls are filled with problems and the routes that are set are very solid. Nicely done guys. I recant all of my previous skepticism. See you again soon.

See you again soon. Glad you enjoyed it Jason. I'm headed down today and will try to get some pics of the newly completed bouldering wall posted later today for all to see. Only bummer was, we weren't able to put the proposed roof crack in. We are looking at putting it under the deck though. hopefully sometime in the next 6-12 months.
