Totally bad form. Where is the OP? Ripping off photos is low-class!

Nice! Yes mistakes should be fixed; they don't need to be feeding frenzies.

Blitzo: It is a great photo. Btw, is First Flatiron, Direct East Face really the best 5.6 you've done? If so, says a lot. I'll try to take more joy in climbing it!

Thanks, I figured that much. What I was trying to tell you is that birdwatching is more of an activity than a destination. Your link for ornithology on a climbing destinations webpage is what's throwing me off.

Thanks for all the critique and praise btw -

This was actually a school project - Im an IT major studying
Computer Information Studies and this was my project gone awry!

As far as the Logo Photo - It was actually supplied to me by someone off of deviantart.com - which is a subscription art site ...
My apologies - I would never knowingly "STEAL" someones possession
Im removing it as well speak - I have an affinity for that specific route due to the WOWS climb...
I am revamping the logo as we speak and my apologies to the author... I will PM you directly.

As far as the site being crappy and worthless... everyone has an opinion
I'll keep mine at continuing the attempt at putting something useful on the web vs some of the drivel that I read on some of these sites... LOL

Thanks for all the feedback...

Im attemtping to put some references in here of qualified, instructive guiding services in the PHX area and Tucson to lead - Any suggestions? I would like to support qualified locales - so suggestions in that regard would be great - Ive already contacted some of the companies but personal invites are invited...

BTW - Im creating a new Logo so have no fear!

Shiloh: I highly recommend listing Jeff Fassett. He does an awesome job of guiding and instructing and is a darn nice guy to boot. climbarizona.com

Also, Mike Knarzer is a solid guy and lots of fun. outdooradventuresaz.com

susan peplow wrote: Yup, no beautiful rock in AZ to post on your AZClimb homepage you've got to reference Joshua Tree for the good stuff?? I have to mention (since you did not) that the photo of the sunset over Saddle Rocks is from our very own MP contibutor Blitzo's Collection. www.azclimb.com You can purchase (aka not hijack) his photos by visiting redbubble.com/people/wserni… or by contacting him through the site for photos of interest. Perhaps I'm overreacting and I will gladly delete this post if it turns out you contacted Blitzo before grabbing his photo for your commericial for profit use. At a minimum, it's poor form to use photographs without credit of the artists name. End Rant....good luck with your site. ~Susan

Last but not least - I will thank the whistle blower - Although
the atrocity was not intended ...

Good job making sure no one gets past big brother...

Congratulations, - go pour yourself a beer.
Your work today is done.

Hi Shiloh,

I commend you for posting on MP and asking for feedback/criticism. It takes a brave man to do that.

I have been looking at the site and I question what the purpose of the site might be. You stated that you want the site to be, "geared toward out of towners to come and get the resources necessary to enjoy the outdoor world - whether its climbing, hiking."

You might want to consider "selling" Arizona climbing more. As an out-of-towner, I would love to see beautiful photos, read great trip reports, and see inspiring videos about Arizona.

Also, when I click on "Destinations," I am brought back to MP.com. It would be better to come up with your own, more thorough descriptions of the destinations, as I could go to MP directly. The same goes for photos. Plus, a photo of JTree in California should not be on the front of you AZ climbing page, legal or not.

Yes, I know that this would take a lot of work, but that work might be enjoyable (you'll have to go climbing more to get the photos, TRs, and videos).

You mean I actually have to leave my computer?

Yeah, come to think of it, what are you doing at your computer now? You live in AZ. It must be like sunny and 60 degrees right now. I have an excuse because it is cold and snowy here in New Hampshire.

Stylistic-Your blue links on azclimb.com/Index.html under featured partners are very hard to read, either lighten the background or darken them.

Generically I don't like the menu's appearance have a look here matthewjamestaylor.com/blog…

The menu does not appear on the photo gallery page, it should.

Your submit button on your contact page puts a submit=submit in the email so I suspect form6 is flawed in some way, check your code for the form. Stylistically I would either use a contact me form where they have an input box or use a simple
href=mailto: inside of a paragraph with a class assigned to it to pretty the link up.

Just noticed you are in IT, some more generic suggestions-redo the whole thing, kill the tables webdesign.about.com/od/layo…
separate the stylesheet, use css, convert it to php so you can separate the code into modules, stylistically the page is coded very sloppily (no offense intended)
go to
sitepoint.com/
w3schools.com/
templatemonster.com/
for tips/tricks, if you are going to code it and put it out there make it better, cleaner, and easier to load/edit.

Thanks for the input - Ya I am learning so I know there are ways to build that are probably better... hence the schooling -
they had us create it in Dreamweaver - so maybe thats why it appears
so sloppy - i am learning CSS ...

Thanks for the tips

Dreamweaver is easy but all WISYWIG editors produce garbage for code, your pages could be a fifth the length and therefor a fifth the load time. If it is a hobby don't worry, if you want to produce a real product redo it, I can send you example code assuming you are hosted in a LAMP environment.

If you don't want to mess around with code but still have a not-appalling site, consider using WordPress. Yeah, it's a blogging platform, but you can also make static pages and sites with it.

css is the proverbial shiz. slice and dice in ps/CSx, wrap in css and power it with ?php [the recursive wonder] ;)

edit::oh,and pear is pretty nice too if you're going the php route.

Shiloh,

Thanks for taking responsibility without getting all defensive. I'm hyper-sensitive to the taking of others material albeit photos, guidebook info, etc.

I'm sure you didn't use any photos with malicious intent. Clearly you enjoyed them enough to feature them on your site. It's a bit of a problem with so many great photos on the web and forums. I have photos myself on my screen saver that I never took but enjoy so much I wanted to see them more often. But that is for personal use only.

Blitzo and others who take photos professionally and don't watermark and/or copyright them will continue to have their goods poached.

Blitzo - get off facebook and start watermarking your stuff!!!!

Good luck with your project and if anyone enjoys Blitzo's work and wants larger formats for printing please contact him through the site as he'd be happy to sell them.

LOL - Glad you can take a joke :) I have alot to learn with my site and changing it look and convey my message in a more professional way but it has definetly pushed me for a site redesign and I felt that was probably what needed to happen anyway...
Thanks for ll the support

Blitzo, as a word of warning, you might want to find out where Shiloh did grab the photos. DeviantArt is full of kids, so I wouldn't put it past them to steal some of your work and post it as their own. Might want to look into it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
