Attentive belayer seeks lead climber...

Okay, I hope I am posting this in its rightful place; if not please let me know. I have not been climbing very long but I am progressing quickly, I can climb mid 5'10 but only by top rope.

I would like to trade services: a safe(skittle free), attentive, relatively quiet belay for a little "how to" advice on lead climbing. I have my own gear and am a very strong hiker.

I have been fortunate to climb in many great places in N.AZ, CO, and NM. I have been doomed to indoor climbing for the past month and would really love to get outdoors again. I live in PHX and did the partner search but it's quite hard to tell who's really serious.
Thanks,
JP

This is probably a common thing people are seeking; but now I believe I found a great solution... I am still open for any partner suggestions, but finally getting my much needed outdoor experience! Thanks!

You're welcome to join us down here at Cochise or Lemmon any time. I believe you've already joined the Phx climbing Meetup, try joining the Tucson one as well.

Happy climbing!

Hey! Thanks for the beta the other day on KitKat, I usually make things harder than they need to be by just going up, but it was nice meeting you. Did you try the Mounds route? Mike belayed me on it when I got there and after I finished it he said it probably was more of a 5.8+ than a 5.10. I agree, but very fun.

You're welcome. It was nice to meet you.

I didn't get on Mounds. I finally redpointed Peanut Brittle, and I figured I should quit while I was ahead.

See ya next time!

I'm not sure why but a lot of the PM sent go right to my junk mailbox... If I didn't reply please send another message. To every one else; it has been a lot of fun meeting/climbing with you! Thank you! -Janelle

If you are ever up in Flagstaff (or Sedona) give me a call. I've been climbing a long time but always enjoy climbing with a wide range of people. 928-380-9388

Does anyone care to recommend their favorite climbing areas or must see places?

I've been having a lot of fun keeping active and improving my leading skills, I have been to Red Rocks, J-Tree, Queen Creek, Isolation, Cochise, and a few other places. It would be nice to hear about other great areas; sport, trad, or bouldering.
Thank you. I appreciate your time,
Janelle

Favorites:

In the Fall/spring:

-Indian Creek and the Moab area for Trad
-The Forks (its still is really nice out there and lately I haven't seen anyone or maybe at most one other party
-Sedona is actually pretty nice (but unfortunately the best climbs are on the harder side of things) with the Waterfall, Shangri-la,...

For planning next year:
-Needles in Cali is amazing
-Yosemite is not to shabby
-Squamish is amazing (if you hit the weather right)

You are welcome up in Flag, I'd like to make it back to the forks this year, and Sedona Season is in full swing!

As far as some of my favorite places to climb. What everyone else said, but like to add: Vedauwoo, Smith Rock, Red River Gorge.

Red River gorge is awesome. I will definitely hit that place up next year again. lot's of good memories. As far as AZ, I am all at Jack's Canyon and I'm loving it. The Pit is awesome also, especially in the next couple of weeks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
