K. Been thinking of this as a fun, good-hearted way to hold up some of the local's accomplishments this past year. The rules- Submit a category for an climbing award (silly or serious, but not degrading) as well as your nomination. I'm willing to splurge for a $10 restaurant gift card for the winners of the best three categories (my discretion). Have fun! My nominations: Most improved in one year: Jon Ruland Hardest new sport route: Vince Bates and Eric Richard (coup d'etat, 13a/b)? Best vocalization during hard moves: Peter Piek

I second the Hardest new sport route: Vince Bates and Eric Richard (coup d'etat, 13a/b)? Nice sends fellaz! However, like Marcy, I am a Tempe resident, I'm probably ineligible in this vote. Geir, is local just Tucson residents to you or do you consider all your fellow AZ climbers to be local? Luke

Best vocalization while climbing? Have you ever climbed with Megan? She is either having the best orgasm a woman has ever had, or is dying a terrible painful death, I can never tell which. I would like to nominate Vince for the award of "Best dodge of a big rock while belaying" for his efforts this weekend. I got the perfect angle from above, having just dislodged the block. You know those sport center videos where you see a running back cut right then cut left, all in the blink of an eye? That was Vince. I swear he threw in a Heisman-trophy pose half way through the move.

Geir, I think you'll get the longest "factor 2 fall" without an injury award! You could add "best catch" or even "best anchor" to that category! Ouch! JF

To all who don't know the story, I took a factor 2 fall a couple of years ago (which was very enlightening), and Jeff caught it. Blood was seeping out from under his fingernails afterward! My vote: Jeff for best catch. (even though it was more than one year ago) Vince Bates for best catch while dodging boulders.
