East Ridge Grand Teton

Experienced Teton local looking for a partner for the East Ridge of the Grand Teton (a nice alpine route) which is just coming into shape in the next few weeks (later than usual.) Plenty of snow on the upper slabs and not too much below. I am available July 19-22, 27-29 and Aug 5-10. Interested and competent alpinists please reply. All my usual accomplices are injured, still skiing or have done it already. I'm also up for additional climbs away from the usual trade routes.

I'm not sure of the route description...Which on is it on this site...East face direct? or what...I'm mostly interested in steep snow/Ice and am in colorado...I could drive up in the next couple weeks...I have five years ice/rock experience...Jeff Kieper

No, the East Ridge (III, 5.7) is a classic mountaineering route involving 4th class scrambling, 8-10 rock pitches, steep snowfields and the usual route-finding issues. It's a big day, 7000' ascent and descent in one day. I don't know why it's not in the route database, I'll have to remedy that. It's on the quiet side of the Grand and likely no other parties up there. Not a steep ice route, more of a moderate alpine adventure.

I did it yesterday for the first time, it's in good shape right now. The crux is the route finding and getting around the Molar Tooth. It took us 20 hours from car to car.
