Just thought I would let everyone know that John Bachar is coming out to do a slide show on April 29th @ 7pm. The show will be held in the Regan Theater at Utah Valley University where they do the Banff Film Fest. The event was put together by Mountainworks and there will be a huge $4000 dollar raffle. Tickets are $10 and are on sale @ Mountainworks.

If you're in SLC and want to come, you can call Mountainworks @ 1-801-371-0223 and pay with a credit card. You can then pickup your tickets that night at Will Call in front of the Ragan Theater.

A great evening! Thanks to DK and the rest of Mountainworks crew who put this on and to all the sponsors! We should get behind their efforts to save rock canyon and write letters to the representatives who have ben hired to speak for the climbing community.

No, we entered everyone. There were around 350 people there, a wonderful turnout for John.

yeah, I too was told by a Mountainworks employee that I wouldn't be entered in the raffle unless we bought ahead of time. Not a big deal, but we ended up paying a few extra bucks when we could have saved a few. I hate to say it, but I know where I won't be shopping for climbing gear in the future.

sgreen, What are you talking about?! Dude, The tickets were the same price before the event and the night of the event. So how did you pay a few extra bucks? You didn't. It cost quite a bit of money to pay for John's Airfare, hotel and slideshow. I thought it was way worth it. We only sold ten tickets the night of the event. Sorry to have diluted your chances of winning a prize. Plus, All the money from the show went to Rock Canyon landings. I hate to say it, but shop somewhere else.

I'll take his place, I have been hearing way too many nice things about shopping at MW...it might just be worth the drive, and it seems like its on the way to almost everywhere I like to climb. Despite crossed fingers, I didn't score at the raffle....but certainly a good cause.

Mountain Works kicks ass. The Bachar show was GREAT. Well worth the $10 even though I didn't win anything. Hell, people are acting like Mountain Works is getting over on them or something. Mountain Works didn't make any money on the Bachar show - it was a "community thing" to organize and host it so how 'bout quit bitching already. Sheesh!!

Just for clarification, I shop at mountain works a lot. I'm fine with them. I also really enjoyed most parts of the slide show. I would have gone w/ or w/out the raffle. The end.

For everything that Mountainworks does for the community, I almost feel like I need to ask their permission to come in the store. I have climbed actively in many places and there has never been a store that does more for the local climbers. Thank you guys for everything you do and for the best damn store in the country!
