Free Camping At City of Rocks/Castle Rock???

heading down in a week to the city for sometime and was wondering if there is anywhere to camp for free. any blm land? dont really feel like paying for camping.

Yeah, there is free camping. My directions are going to be absolutely terrible, because I've only been there a couple times, someone else has always been driving, which means I've always been sloshed by the time we actually get there.

It's something like, coming in from Oakley, you drive all the way through the city, then when you get to the dirt road heading north/south, turn south, and go past a fence. There should be a road heading up on your right that leads to free camping.

Hopefully someone will post up with directions that don't cause you to get lost in the wilderness and die sad and alone.

Not sure if the road through the City is open yet? Typically, its snowbound so you couldn't drive from Oakley. You might call the park to ask before driving in from Oakley. Was snowed over earlier this year when I was there.

There's tons (tons) of free camping out past the Twin Sisters.

Although, this time of year, the City and Castle are fairly quiet.
