Anybody been up to the Uintas lately? I'm thinking about heading up this weekend. I've heard there is still snow...

Well... Last week we got some great skiing off Haydens and Reid's Peak... so that might answer your question- yes there is still a bunch of snow up there- but it is melting super fast. Most of the south facing cliffs looked fairly open and the rock was warm. The lakes above Trial Lake were still ice covered and the road still had a good three to eight foot berm of snow around it (at 10,000 ft). Ruth's Lake was snowed in to the road, but should be climbable soon (if it isn't already). But that was a week ago- the place melts out fairly quick once the heat sets in. Have a go and let us know!
there is still a lot of snow and there will be in some places for a while. I went to cliff lake on friday and couldn't get all the way to the trailhead but postholed up the road and the trail anyway to find a dry talus and no drippage on the routes. ruth lake on saturday was a different story with maybe 10 feet of snow below some routes and others looking like waterfalls. the temps are amazing and it was nice to get ruth to ourselves but a lot of areas wont be in full swing for a while.

My friend was up at Ruth lake over the weekend. He said there was still a fair bit of snow, and some of the routes were wet. But he was still able to climb. Not a lot of info, but i hope that helps.

Got back from my birthday trip on sunday. We climbed at cliff lake, which was totally clear of snow, but busy. Had some friends go up to the Stone Garden and Notch lake, both of which they said were really excellent. Bring LOTS of mosquito repellent... they're crazy up there right now.
