Is there a way to save, or 'favorite' members profiles within the MP site?

-Gracias

I think this came up once before, but no, I don't think you can do that.

So send a reply to my e-mail and tell me what's up with you, duuuuude. I have a few bits of news.

It has come up before here

However, a satisfactory conclusion was never really come to. I for one think it is a great idea to be able to have an easy way to see all of my friends latest contributions, and before it starts, no I don't think this should be done in a "myspace" sort of way where it turns into a weird popularity contest for the most friends...

How about just setting up a MP Favorites file in your browsers favorite list?

You mean actually handle it myself when I could have someone else spend hours taking care of it for me? Crazy talk!

It could be a little more custom than that. Links that list recent contributions (photos, comments, etc.) or changes to tick lists or todo lists would be helpful. Also distinguishing forum posts/comments or routes as being from your friends could help those "stick out". I'd like to see an RSS feed for people, too. Basically any changes to a person's profile, tick list, todo list could be reflected in the feed.

I'm watching you. You look tired, got enough sleep last night?

Gary,

I agree that it would be cool to have that feature in the site, but until then I am saving stuff in my Favorites file.

I've actually wanted this feature too, so perhaps I'll finally make it! This is what I'm thinking:

  • On every person's user page there will be a link to "make this person your friend".
  • Your friends will be listed on your user page and can be removed/sorted there.
  • Somewhere you can view a list of who has listed you as a friend, with links to make them your friend.
  • On the home page, if you have friends, a new module will show up that lists the latest activity from friends, such as contributions (new routes, comments, etc), ticks, and todos.
  • An RSS feed of that info would also be available.

Comments? Anything else this feature should encompass?

well here goes the popularity contest... rc.com here we come

I think the 'friend' thing can & should be private (a fun convenience) but I guess it's really up to you in the end - so voting won't really matter (gasp.. speaking out to site guru, 40 lashes)

If your going to implement, it would be nice to also include an on/off, similar to allowing certain info to become visible or not. Two options: Friends Visible: On/Off - RSS Feed Changes (for friends making updates): On/Off

Personally I don't need any more emails or need to be alerted if Mark takes a dump :)~ (mark nothing personal)

'looking tired' and not getting enough sleep are not necessarily always related {{*wink-wink*}}

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
