There was a rather large group of SAR peeps doing some kind of training at Scruffy Band this morning. One of their group, I suspect, may have in-advertantly walked off with a trad-draw that my partner dropped from below the upper pillar, but in doing so, left a pair of gloves behind.

Shall we trade?

Yes, I inadvertenly left a pair of blue gloves at the base of the scruffy bands on Sunday. My SAR friends said they left a pair of gloves on the tree at the base where all the equipment was piled.

I went back today (Monday) and there were no gloves to be found.
The gloves were not new and had some rips by the thumb but I liked them and would like to get them back if possible. I Have no gloves to trade. Other options?

I wasn't looking for a pair of gloves to trade, I was saying:

I FOUND A PAIR OF GLOVES, WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO EXCHANGE FOR THE TRAD-DRAW MY PARTNER DROPPED. THE sar PEOPLE WERE THE ONLY ONES AT THE BASE, ERGO, FIGURED ONE OF THEM PROBABLY PICKED UP THE DRAW AND LEFT THE GLOVES IN EXCHANGE.

IT WAS NOT A FAIR TRADE & I WOULD LIKE TO TRADE BACK: THE ONE TRAD-DRAW THEY PICKED UP, FOR THE ONE PAIR OF GLOVES THEY LEFT BEHIND.

is it all clear now?

perhaps they felt it was only fair to "booty" a piece of gear that fell from the sky, or perhaps they were pissed at the chunks of ice being knocked down on them so took the gear in retaliation. either way, not fucking cool.

ALSO:

Perhaps next time the SAR people would like to get some training time in on the ice, they should select a place which would more easily accommodate the numbers of people in attendance. Someplace like the apron on Stairway to Heaven, for instance, which can easily support the dozen or so clients Exum usually has there in addition to your 15+ people, with minimal impact on the ice, clogging a popular route, and your general ice wank'ry.

That is all.

Good day.

Wow Stymingersfink, you sure do sound like a hard stud climber! You must be such a hard stud! Wait, but I'm confused, if you're such a big hard climber, what the fuck are you doing hanging out at the scruffy band with all the wankers?

Dear Stymingersfink,
I checked with some of the SAR team and no one seems to know anything about a Trad-Draw. We will continue to check as we try to make sure any gear gets back to its owner. I as sorry if we inconvienced you with our training. Our Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue group does a lot of training to maintain our proficiency and train our new members. We avoided the Great White area so as not to interfere with that congested area. We don't like to take our entire team out of the county since we are subject to an emergency call out at any time, especially on weekends.
We encourage safty in all outdoor activities especially helmets and courtious behavior in ice climbing to avoid knocking ice or dropping gear on other climbers.
If the gloves are that important to you, you can keep them.

the gloves are in my buddy's car, up in centerville... he'll probably be down next week... where would be a good place to leave them for you?

Give me a call and I will arrange to pick them up.

Since I have not heard from you I assume you are not going to return my gloves.

I got them outta my buddies car... I'll have to get them back to you this week, eh?

Stop by the BD store, they'll have them behind the counter in a bag with your name on it for ya ;)

I didn't see them in there last time I visited...

I can only assume you picked them up?
