Folks, please just be sure you know the details first -- before lashing out. I think Pete took a good fall up there and needed to head out to the ER. petetakeda.com/journal/an-a… Hope your recovery is going well.

Sorry Pete, just read your journal tough break, sorry someone had to add insult to injury. Look, to you folks messaging me this and that about Pete, firstly I thank you for enlightening me to the situation and this gentleman's prowess in the community. In no ways was I taking a shot at the guy. Personally I am not here to kiss anyone's ass so spare me the cheap shots. Secondly, I'd like to state that there was just a heated argument on this site regarding stashing gear (lest we forget) obviously unstated in the original post there were extenuating circumstaces here. Plus, I had no idea that stashing gear on a ledge fell outside of the rest of the rules up there. Personally I am poor so I could never fathom stashing anything legal or not for the simple gravity that Pete is experiencing right now. So do I suck? maybe. Am I an asshole? probably. Do I really care about being berated (not you Avery)through PM's on a forum? Of course, I will probably loose a night or two of sleep and quit climbing. Thanks for ruining christmas.

Posts regarding the before-mentioned thread seem to slant more towards a stance that stashed gear (for a reasonable period of time) on a remote alpine route is acceptable, provided the folks remove it in a timely manner. Huge foam-stuffed pads stashed in sensitive, high-traffic areas, where weight and speed are NOT a factor, no matter what the circumstances may be: tsk-tsk! Get well, Pete! I enjoy your website....

You might try other sites like summitpost.com if it was left along one of the traditional mountaineering routes. Lots of active mountaineers over there that may have picked it up on their way or know who did.

Maybe it was the marmot that actually trundled a pack off of Broadway last week. It went to the glacier. A bunch of red rope over by Pervertical as well.

Pete, We saw your rack at the Broadway Bivy on Monday the 30th. I am assuming it was yours, not to many people have several screamers on their rack up there. That was the day the Marmot trundled some kids packs off the left side of Broadway and we got our ropes stuck linking the first 2 Crack of Delight rappells with 70M ropes ( not recomended). Of course the Yellow wall was soaked that day and we got hammered by a storm on the COD raps. Fun day on the Diamond. The highlight of the day was climbing near Roger Briggs and Chip Chace. It was Rogers 100th ascent of the Diamond and also his 40 year aniversary from his first ascent of the Diamond ( the 2nd ascent of D7). It was Chips 30 year aniversary as well. Sorry to hear about your gear, but I am not thet supprised considering the number of people climbing up there these days. Have Andy call or email me if you do not get it back as I am about to unload a ton of aid/free gear that has been hanging in my gear room getting no use. I will hook him up. Kevin (303)810-3105

If all dogs go to Heaven, I'm more than happy to send all marmots someplace else.

My partner and I were the first group up to Broadway on 7/31. The only gear at the Broadway bivy were a couple bottles of water.
