Recommendation for new Cragging Pack

My old pack has finally died so I'm trying to find a new pack for cragging but so far I haven't been able to find one. I'm after something about 35 to 40 liters with top and front loading options. I'm sick of only top loaders since I have to turn the thing inside out to find things.

I was looking at the BD Boa but I can't fit all my stuff into it. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, Side zips and panel access are really tricky to find on packs smaller than 60L, but they are out there. If you can look past the top loader thing there are a few killer packs out there. I personally like the Osprey Atmos series, the Arc Teryx roll tops are pretty sweet too.

I use an older version of this pack( burton.com/Gear/Default.asp…), the snowboard straps on the front of it are awesome for strapping a rope on, and it does have panel access. Mine is about 40L and a roll top. Good luck man. Check the snowboard packs like I said the board carrying straps are great for a rope, just loop the top of it through the haul loop and you're golden

Have you checked out the Metolius Crag Station? I have the BD Boa now, and agree it's too small. I bought it because it looked more comfortable for long approaches, and I've been happy with it in that respect -- I just can't get all my gear into it. I'm going to pick up the Metolius CS since I've found a few people that swear by it, and it looks like it can hold a ton. I also like the full zip opening -- big enough to belay out of if you want.

Hit a garage sale, go climbing, be happy.

Get a small haul bag. Also check out the new mad rock crag bags, I first I was cynical, but after seeing them in a store they look pretty solid.

I have a Black Diamond Jackal 45L... perfect size for a 60m, harnesses, and a large rack. Super comfortable and I love the hell out of it. Its also set up to carry skis for backcountry stuff in the winter.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
