National park "Volcan Nevado de Colima" Once you enter the National Park, after you pay access at the park's ranger door, follow the road to "Las Antenas". The road can be transit by car until the camp area "la calle". There is a door at the entrance of "la calle", park your car there and walk the last 3 Km to "Las Antenas" (radio antennas station").
This is the face of the mountain you see when ascending via the Antennas or the Colimotes Route. It offers breathtaking views of the Volcán de Fuego and expansive sand fields. The south summit rises to 4,260 meters (13,976 feet) above sea level and is the most visited peak in the park. Unlike the north summit, the south summit features easy hiking trails, making it the most frequently climbed summit of the Nevado de Colima. That said, this face also has several good technical routes that are rarely climbed—likely due to the limited information available about them. There are several ways to access this side of the mountain. The most traditional approaches are via the Antennas or from Colimotes, Cueva del Diablo, and Curva del Leñador. A lesser-known option involves taking the “J” Trail and turning off to the right just as the trees end and the main ascent "ramp" to la J begins. From there, you descend a 4-meter (13-foot) rock wall and traverse along the entire northwestern face.
The face is north from the gully between the south and north summits. On a clear day, you will have strong sun from midday till dusk. From "las antenas" walk down to "el calimocho" (the sandy saddle on top of the main sand gully). From there, follow the margin of the south summit buttress, direction north, towards the gully between the two summits. Once you reach the gully cross it and walk up the smaller gully coming from the north summit. From "las antenas" is about 1.5 Km
