The Dixie Cragger's Atlas has long been a climber's bible for the southeast (Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama). A longtime climber himself, author Chris Watford has not only ticked many of the routes in his guidebooks, but also has his share of first ascents at some of the region's premier crags.

In the new version of the DCA, Alabama shares a volume with Georgia (Tennessee is in a separate volume). A substantial number of new routes have been added, as well as some new areas such as the recently-reopened Jamestown. The guide also includes narratives on the history of climbing at each area; topos and cliffline photos; and great shots of climbers on routes by photographers like Scott Perkins.
