Medicine Wall Rock Climbing

There are two options for the approach and both require bushwhacking. Do not expect a trail to the base:

1) A longer walk, but worth it to not have to deal with bad roads. It's beautiful anyways! Park at the hairpin turn on highway 212 5.8 miles East of the Highway 212/296 junction or exactly one mile West (or downhill) of the Yellowstone Overlook, aka Pilot Peak overlook. A map is recommended. Bushwhack 1.5-2 miles to the top of the wall (see location of wall). Rap into wall by either the route Sheepeater, or walk to the Eastern terminus of the wall and find rap anchors that require one rap then a walk around to the base of the wall.

2) This is the shortest approach. It's relatively easy, but requires 4x4. I have made it a couple of times in a Subaru Forester with some faphery, but I wouldn't recommend it. The other option is to drive as far as you can, then walk the road. From the junction of Highways 212 and 296, head East 4.6 miles to Forest Road 118, which will be on the South side of the highway. Follow the road past a large gravel pit, then past the worst section of road, then on down to the plains below. Take a left when you reach a fork, then another left when you reach another fork. Now, you should see the Medicine Wall. Drive however much further you feel comfortable driving then bushwhack 1 mile to the base of the wall. The entire drive on forest road 118 is 2.7 miles.
