Description
A granite filled zone that is quite like Joshua, but half the distance from Las Vegas. Lots of potential for development, decent dirt roads, and no service.
Getting There
From the intersection of the 215 and 15 Freeways in Las Vegas, head south on the 15 for 44.8 miles and take the Nipton Road Exit (10B).
Continue East on Nipton for 6.2 miles and turn right onto Ivanpah Road.
Follow Ivanpah Road South for 2.6 miles and turn right on Morningstar Mine Road.
Continue south for 15 miles where the road changes into Kelso Cima Road (Do not make any turns).
Follow Kelso Cima Road for 4.6 Miles and turn left onto Cedar Canyon Road (Crossing the train tracks).
This road starts as paved and then becomes a dirt road. Follow Cedar Canyon Road for 6 miles before turning right onto Black Canyon Road.
Continue for 2.5 miles until you begin approaching Joshua Tree style granite domes.
