Description
An overlooked range west of the town of Wendover on the Nevada/Utah boarder, the Toano Range has some formidable bastions of granite visible from I-80. There is enormous potential for climbing of all disciplines here, and it is readily accessible from Salt Lake City (about a 2.5 hour drive).
According to "Native American Placenames of the United States", the name Toano is pronounced toe-AH-noe, and it derives from Shoshoni words meaning "pipe camp".
