Description
The first zone you will see along the trail, with two large roofs and several other boulders. A number of hard projects and easier potential mixed in.
Like most areas at Three Creeks, conditions can be difficult given many of the boulders' proximity to the creek bed. The creek is usually dry, but after heavy rainfall, it's possible for the water level to rise several feet. It can take up to a week or longer for the creek to completely drain.
The Cicada Soup boulder in particular will be underwater most of the time. Get on those climbs when you get the chance!
Getting There
Approach 1: from the parking lot, take the left of the two trails heading east. When the trail crosses with the service road, take a right which will lead you all the way to the creek. When you reach the creek, take a left and the boulders will be off to the right. This approach is better during the summer because the wider trail is more trafficked and less overgrown.
Approach 2: from the parking, take the right of the two trails heading east. At the first fork, take a right. You should pass a campsite before heading downhill to a small stream. Follow the stream down to the creek and join the trail to the boulders. This approach is faster, but is very overgrown in summer and the stream can be very slippery after rain, so take caution.
