Description Suggest change

The Chonk is a freestanding tower just north of the creek bed, midway between the scramble down approach and the Goode Wall. It has potential for probably a half dozen quality routes as well as boulder problems up for grabs on the South (downhill) side. The hanging arete, Chonklord, is a classic for the canyon and not to be missed.

As other routes have been added to the Chonk, it's turned into a really quality little crag. For first timers, bring a brush and enjoy the really interesting and novel moves created by the tower's unusual tilt. All routes currently have steel hooks or carabiners for lowering. If you're going to top rope, consider hanging your own gear to extend the life of the anchors.

Getting There Suggest change

The quickest way is to take the scramble down approach shortly out of the parking area and head climbers left about two hundred yards. You'll see the tower on your your left between you and the creek and a drainage trail takes you straight to the base of Chonklord and Primordial Pouch.
