Description Suggest change

High quality lines in good density spread over the hillside/ridge above the La Madera community.

There are a variety of classics here including the renowned, Too Good to Be American.

Many lines are eye-catching proud taller climbs and there a multitude of pleasant lines that are on the shorter side. This area is good in the shoulder seasons and can be doable in the winter. Summer is for those that are psyched and are patient enough to wait for the late afternoon shade. Almost all the climbs go into the shade in the afternoon. In the morning the southeast facing hillside receives a very direct sun angle.

Getting There Suggest change

Possibly one of the easiest to access areas with parking right off the road, Lat: 36.42639, Lon: -106.06509. There is a cairn trail that begins to the northwest of this parking.

A short hike up this trail will lead to a bench with the upper parking before the area trails branch off. The Main Area is approached via a trail that off shoots Northeast from this bench. The Lower Ridge area is approached via a trail that off shoots to the West/Southwest.

The upper parking is accessed by a rough road that is recommended only approached using a 4x4 capable vehicle.
