Description Suggest change

Rightfully named Helium Wall for its steep blank walls, you’ll need to be ultralight to make an ascent of this wall. This is the rock formation below the sidewalk that separates the Middle wall into Lower (Helium) and Upper (Precious Metal) tiers. This wall provides the hardest climbing on the periodic table. Expect slightly overhanging to vertical climbing on any holds you can hope to find. There could likely be many 5.13-14's in this area as it just doesn't have many features, and even if it did it would still be quite hard. The Wall is in the shade till early afternoon, facing west, the routes right of Chemical X stay shady with some tree cover later into the afternoon.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive to the end of Swift Creek Canyon and park as for Periodic Springs hike. Follow the well graded trail for 3/4 mile to the bridge.

To reach top of the H2O wall, or continue on to Helium Wall and the other sections of the Mid-Wall, start by crossing the bridge heading right as for periodic springs and taking a left uphill just before the picnic table and springs infographic sign. Follow faint trail as it contours the talus field towards a break in the rock on top of H2O wall. Once on top, head uphill at the cairn and follow trail from there. You'll reach a fixed line that will give you access to Helium/Lower Mid wall and eventually Precious Metal/upper Mid Wall.

After the fixed line go around the initial corner onto the edge of the fin. Follow a steeper trail for 20-40 feet to a big pine where you can cross the fin and down climb to the base of the cliff. Once on the west side of the cliff line, hug the lower ledge of limestone. You’ll pass a few walls that could be of future interest. Walk the base of the fin for 10 minutes until you reach the, featureless Helium Wall,

Congrats, you’ve made it, get ready to try hard!
