Description
South Stone Area is a large grouping of south- and west-facing crags about a mile south of the main area (Hold Up Bluffs, etc.) above Highway 37. Crags here include: Old South Stone, South Stone, Little South Stone, New South Stone, Polish Hill, Upper South Stone, Lover's Rock, Sloggers Wall, Sloggers Dream Dihedrals, Bikini Area, and Pretty Face with 80+ routes. Get the Stone Hill guide at Rocky Mountain Outfitters in Kalispell to get more beta on these walls and routes.
This area is not within the seasonal falcon closure.
Getting There
Drive about one mile south of the main area/Hold Up Bluffs and you will see the walls on your left (east) above the road. Just south of Old South Stone (the prominent west-facing wall easily seen from the road), about 100 yards past an obvious dirt pullout and 50 ft. north of a guardrail on the east side of the highway, you will see the obvious trailhead sign. Follow well-dug trails and some signage to most of the walls.
