Description

Short boulder on a sunny, sandy beach near Tanque Verde Falls. This area is frequented by nude sunbathers. If you don't mind the company, the landings on this boulder make it a good destination for a solo mission. No classic climbs but it adds up to a nice experience. IMO, newspaper arete is the best climb on this boulder

Getting There

Park on the side of the dirt road just past the 2nd parking area/information center. There are two trails about 100 yards apart. You want the second trail. Follow it for 15 minutes to arrive at the sandbox area. If you end up taking the first trail, it will dump you further down wash. In this case, hike the right side of the canyon until you come upon a small waterfall. Pass the waterfall on the right hand side. The sandbox is just above the waterfall
