Description
Rodeo Wall is a perfect fit for a specific set of conditions. It's a sunny, south-facing wall which offers protection from a north wind, warmth on a wintery day, and decent quality limestone. The approach is no Gun Club parking-lot-hop, but it's mild by RR standards, and mostly flat, save the last steep bit of the approach from the wash to the base of the climbs. Added bonus, that little bit of distance means you'll likely have the place to yourself. The view is lovely, and you can't take a step without tripping over one fascinating fossil after another. Climbs are varied, with unique features, and a bit of a grade range to suit different wants and needs. It might be worth the hike even if only to check out the mother of all batshit-crazy guano-filled mini-caves. Absolutely worth a day's visit.

Getting There
Park at Buckskin Cliff Shadows, a public equestrian park. The approach could include one of maybe ten different trail options ... it's a criss-cross mish-mash of wandering, winding paths back there. Take your pick, but your best bet may be to stay in the gravel wash, which circles to the left around the southern tip of the North/South ridge which holds Gun Club on its east side. After circling that southern tip, continue up the wide valley, staying slightly left (NNW). As you approach the gray and yellow band, shown in the area photos, keep your eyes peeled to the left. About 1.5 to 2 miles along your way, pass a bouldery wash which branches left off the gravel path, just before the wall. Begin the final steep section of the approach. The trail is faint, but it DOES exist, and it IS marked with frequent small cairns, so do your best to stay on track and minimize impact. Climbs begin around elevation 3600' or so.
