Description
Boulders can be found along the Little Patuxent River near High Ridge Park.
Historical tidbit, around 2013 Shawn Seifert released the High Ridge Bouldering guide ( mdguides.files.wordpress.co…) which documented 17 problems on five boulders.
Getting There
Park at High Ridge Park in Laurel, MD.
Original Directions recommended going to the Gazebo... "Walk along the paved path until you encounter a gazebo. Head straight down the hill until you find a path along the river. Head right and cross a small runoff stream, the path heading a little uphill. Walk 5 mins and cut left into the woodline towards the water. If you see houses, you've gone too far. Looking downhill from the ridge, the Great Boulder should be visible. Make your way down to the rocks and enjoy. After crossing the runoff stream and climbing the hill, follow the high visibility reflective blazes on the trees. The blazes eventually cut left into the woods and down the hill, turn right once you get down the hill and you'll soon encounter the Great Boulder."
See the approach trail in MP, or look at the photo of the park map with an easier approach path drawn in black. Also, the reflective blazes were not evident in Spring 2025 so that beta may no longer be good.
