Description Suggest change

Small cliff band overlooking Potomac River with boulders in surrounding area. Mostly undocumented other than the few climbs at the overlook. Expect overgrowth and steep terrain at the base. Most of the surrounding rock is choss, but the occasional solid boulder can be found with some exploration..

The hike up to the overlook is extremely popular (as is with all AT parking lots) and will be very crowded on weekends.

Getting There Suggest change

About 1.5 miles east of the major Hapers Ferry climbing areas. Head off of Route 340 towards Rout 67 towards Boonsboro, then take the first right one Weverton Cliffs Road. Parking lot is located on the right side of Weverton Cliffs Road, Knoxville, MD 21758. Walk up the road to the base of the hill and enter the Appalachian Trail. Moderately steep hiking consists of 1.5 miles of switchbacks until the scenic overlook. Do not enter the trail directly from the parking lot as this leads you in the wrong direction / down to the canal.
