Description
Large ridge of sandstone visible to the west of the Umpqua Valley. Same series of sandstone cliffs that compose the Callahans climbing area but only ~10 miles north. Potential for more routes with some cleaning and exploring. Also has a large boulder field with potential at the base of the cliff. Awesome views overlooking large vineyards and the Umpqua River, plus the shortest approach in the region!
Getting There
From Roseburg, head west to Melrose and then take Melqua Road for 7.0 miles to Long's Ranch Road. Follow pavement up into mountains for 2.9 miles and turn left. Follow gravel road for just over 2 miles making sure to hang right up and up the steep hill at the 1 mile marker. Continue left and through the rock quarry and take the first left coming down the hill. Park. The cliff is right in front of you.
Avoid taking the Callahan Road route suggested by Google Maps at the moment as it was gated off at a temporarily active quarry.
